A man who attempted to rob a Lake Macquarie restaurant armed with a machete has been charged and will front court today.
Police say the 21 year old allegedly tried to break in to the restaurant on the Pacific Highway in Belmont overnight.
He demanded money from an employee, but ran off empty handed.
The man allegedly surrendered himself to police, and was arrested.
