Police are now investigating a fatal motorcycle crash near Singleton early this morning.
Emergency services were called to the New England Highway at Belford at about 1:30am, following reports of a crash.
A 46-year-old man died at the scene.
At the time of publication, highway traffic was very heavy through the Belford area.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area but a contra flow has been put in place to allow motorists to pass through.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
