Police are investigating after a fatal single-vehicle crash at Killingworth overnight.
It’s understood the car was travelling north along the M1 at around 11:40pm when it left the road and crashed in bushland.
The vehicle caught alight and the driver died at the scene.
They have not yet been identified.
A crime scene has been established, anyone with further information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
