The artists of Athena have been considering the element of time in their recent work. A very diverse and sometimes complex theme, it can also retract into the record of a transient thought or a fleeting glance.
Rapid changes to technology have many of us fearing our own demise as well as the end of all time.

Friends of Grossmann and Brough Houses invite you to the 2024 Grossmann Lecture, delivered by Dr Peter Hobbins of the Australian National Maritime Museum, exploring the theme: Maitland under attack? Defending the Hunter region in World War II.
What sort of credible threat could have materialised in the Hunter and were we prepared for it? This presentation considers the prospects of naval, military and aerial attacks in the Hunter region, from toxic gases to warship broadsides.
The annual Grossmann Lecture will be accompanied by homemade canapes and a complementary glass of sparkling wine, to be enjoyed in the delightful gardens of Brough and Grossmann Houses, Church St, Maitland.

The Hunter Veterans and Families Support Centre Markets will be held at Wickham Park, Islington on the last Sunday of each month except December. Proceeds of the markets are to assist with the welfare of Veterans and their families.
Markets start at 7am and continue until around 1pm. Food and drinks available and usually over a 100 stalls to check out. You can add to the stalls or just come along and check out what is available.
The Shortest day of the year has just passed you can already feel the days getting longer come out and enjoy the markets
