Alison Abbott is the Hunter Region Botanic Gardens Bonsai curate and has an extensive collection of her own Bonsai trees. She has practised this artform for many years and would like to share her knowledge. This presentation it designed to introduce beginners to the art and skill of creating beautiful Bonsai.
You will learn about technique, materials and soils as well as maintenance for healthy trees. There will be a display of Bonsai and morning tea is included.
Follow-up sessions will be offered at a later date for styling, re-potting and ‘penjing’ – landscape group plantings and forests.
Workshop will be held on Sunday, 8th September. Cost includes entry to Hunter Region Botanic Gardens, morning tea and lecture.

Eight beautiful and diverse gardens from across the Tilligerry Peninsula will open on Sunday 29th September from 10am* – 3pm to celebrate Spring!
Included gardens feature your old favourites plus some exciting new locations.
Gardens are located in Salt Ash, Lemon Tree Passage and Tanilba Bay on the beautiful Tilligerry Peninsula, an easy 30 minute drive from Newcastle or Nelson Bay.
