Dominic Perrottet, the Premier of NSW, wants to provide first-time homebuyers the option of paying either an upfront stamp duty fee or an annual land tax.
NSW’s Shadow Treasurer Daniel Mookhey told Richard King that there are too many underlying costs to the policy.
“The concern that we have with the escalation mechanism on land tax is that it will absolutely increase rents as well as they have to recover the additional tax they have to pay.”
